WHY: A coalition of labor unions fighting to save jobs and win the “Right to Return” for hospitality, convention and trade shows, airport, entertainment, and hospital workers throughout Clark County is hosting a rally outside of the Clark County Commission.
The Save Our Jobs Coalition includes: Bartenders Union Local 165, Culinary Workers Union Local 226, IATSE Local 720, National Nurses United, Operating Engineers Local 501, SEIU 1107, Teamsters Local 986, Teamsters Local 631, and United Auto Workers Local 3555 with a combined membership of approximately 87,000 workers in Nevada.
A “Right to Return” ordinance would require employers to offer all workers (union and non-union) throughout several industries in Clark County, the right to return to their jobs (if the employee had been laid off or furloughed due to COVID-19) when the business reopens or resumes operations.
Workers have helped to build Nevada into the tourism and entertainment capital of the world. They take care of our sick, injured, and elderly residents. All workers make this city one of the best places to live and raise a family. Every one of those workers should have the right to come back to their previous jobs when business resumes. They have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
The Save Our Jobs Coalition urges the Clark County Commission to protect workers by placing a “Right to Return” ordinance on the agenda.
