Catholic Church holds special mass for immigrants, refugees, and workers with Bishop Pepe at Holy Redeemer on the Las Vegas Strip
WHAT: A Mass for immigrants and refugees with the Most Reverend Bishop Joseph A. Pepe.
WHO: Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Vegas, workers and the Las Vegas immigrant community. Faith leaders from All Saints Episcopal Church, Reformation Lutheran Church, Masjid-as-Sabur, New Life Seven-Day Adventist Church, and United Church of Christ.
WHEN: Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 5:00pm – (Doors open at 4pm, Mass concludes approximately at 6:45pm).
WHERE: The Roman Catholic Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer -
(55 East Reno Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89119). The cross streets are Las Vegas Boulevard and Mandalay Bay Road.
WHY: On this day, Pope Francis is to launch Caritas Internationalis’ ‘Share the Journey’ migration campaign, the Roman Catholic Diocese, with support from the Culinary Union, will be celebrating a special Mass for immigrants, refugees, and workers with Bishop Joseph Pepe at Holy Redeemer. The two-year campaign of action and awareness-raising will promote the strengthening of relationships between migrants, refugees and communities. It is Caritas’ response to Pope Francis’ calls to promote the ‘culture of encounter’ – to see people on the move with humanity, to open hearts and minds, to change perceptions.
The service will feature:
* Bilingual (English and Spanish)
* Prayer for unity, solidarity, and strength for immigrants, refugees, Dreamers, and TPS recipients.
This event is open to friends, family, and the Las Vegas community. All are welcome.
Members of the Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice will be available for interviews before Mass. The service is closed to media.
