[Culinary Union members ready to begin another day of cure canvassing]

STATEMENT by Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge regarding the Culinary Union’s statewide ballot curing program in support of Senator Jacky Rosen:

With the senate race in Nevada being too close to call, the Culinary Union has already pivoted the army of political canvassers to focus on ballot curing to ensure that every vote for Senator Jacky Rosen is counted.

The Clark and Washoe County Registrars have urged voters to resolve ballot signature issues, and the Culinary Union has responded by running Nevada’s largest ballot cure operation statewide which is mobilizing over 200 canvassers on the ground in Las Vegas and Reno to knock on 24,000+ doors and connect 1-on-1 with Nevadans to protect their votes. Since October 29, the Culinary Union CURE Machine has been phone banking, texting, and canvassing daily and is prepared to go through November 12th at 5pm if needed.

While Culinary Union runs a cure effort in support of a former Culinary Union member, Senator Jacky Rosen to retain her seat, we celebrate Culinary Union member Linda Hunt’s election to Assembly District 17. As a dedicated Shop Steward and a fierce advocate for workers for over 45 years, Assemblywoman Linda Hunt represents the true working-class voice in the Nevada State Legislature and her resounding victory on Election Day by 64% reaffirms our mission to elect more Culinary Union members to office who will center worker’s issues and our voices.

The fight for working families in Nevada doesn’t end on Election Day. As we have done for 89 years, we remain unwavering in our commitment to fight and win for workers, no matter resides in the White House. As a union, we know what it takes to organize and stand up to those who seek to divide us, pit us against each other, and threaten our progress. We will always confront enemies of workers, whether they are corporations, billionaire bosses, or presidents.
