Former Vice President Kamala Harris rallied hundreds of Culinary Workers Union Local 226 members as part of a concerted push for Nevada's Democratic candidates in Las Vegas today, urging them to keep up the support for Democratic candidates with less than two weeks left before the Nov. 3 election.
“This is the moment where the power of the people reigns,” Harris said. “Where the power of the people leads.”

“That era of feeling powerless, like 'what can we do, this just keeps happening,' that era is over because we are now 13 days away from doing something about it to stop the pain,” Harris said. “We are now in a moment of action.”
That action, Harris said, is something the union has always delivered through door-knocking, texting and organizing. Culinary Union President Diana Valles said hundreds of members have spent thousands of hours canvassing in the weeks leading up to Election Day.

Valles said she appreciated Harris taking an interest in workers’ concerns, but said the outcome will come down to the union’s own members.
“Our people, our members knocking on doors one by one,” Valles said. “The people are what’s going to make the difference.”
