The Culinary union celebrated a “monumental decision” in its 17-year battle with Station Casinos in a news conference Tuesday at its Las Vegas headquarters.
But it’s still unclear if and when the two sides will sit down to negotiate a union contract after a chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court on Sept. 4 rejected Red Rock Resort’s attempt to delay enforcement of a federal order to recognize and bargain with the Culinary union.
“Chief Justice John Roberts and the Supreme Court has said, ‘You must sit down and bargain with the Red Rock workers.’ So the next step is for them to accept bargaining dates,” Culinary union secretary-treasurer Ted Pappageorge said. “We are in communications with the company. We have offered bargaining dates in November and we are asking them to sit down and begin these negotiations and to move pen to paper.”
