BROLL of Culinary Union canvassers curing
STATEMENT by Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge regarding Nevada election results:
The Culinary Union congratulates Senator Jacky Rosen on her re-election to the United States Senate. Senator Rosen is a champion for working families and Culinary Union is proud to have run the largest political program in Nevada to defend and secure this critical Senate seat.
Statewide, Culinary Union ran the largest political program with 600 canvassers who knocked on over 900,000 doors and engaged in more than 130,000 conversations with voters. This extensive effort reached over half of voters of color in Nevada, including 70% of Black voters, 57% of Latinx voters, 29% of AAPI voters, and 20% of Indigenous voters. Additionally, since October 29, and in anticipation of a close Nevada Senate race, the Culinary Union deployed the largest ballot cure operation in Clark and Washoe Counties. Over 200 canvassers mobilized across Las Vegas and Reno, knocking on more than 24,000 doors, and connecting one-on-one with Nevadans to protect their votes.
Culinary Union celebrates the election and re-election of Culinary Union members up and down the ballot. We are especially proud to get out the vote for former Culinary Union members Senator Jacky Rosen, Congressman Steven Horsford, Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley, and current Shop Steward and Assemblywoman Linda Hunt, while also leading get out the vote efforts that contributed to the re-election of Congressional representatives Dina Titus and Susie Lee. These successes reaffirm our commitment to electing more Culinary Union members to office who will center workers’ issues and our voices.
The fight for working families in Nevada doesn’t end on Election Day. As we have done for 89 years, we remain unwavering in our commitment to fight and win for workers, no matter who resides in the White House. As a union, we know what it takes to organize and stand up to those who seek to divide us, pit us against each other, and threaten our progress. We will always confront enemies of workers, whether they are corporations, billionaire bosses, or presidents.
