The proposed "Hotel Safety Act," which would mandate daily room cleanings at hotels on the Strip and Fremont Street, has sparked debate among tourists and state officials.
The Culinary Union has labeled it a health issue, while Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo dismissed it as an unnecessary COVID-era precaution.
Nick Robinson, visiting from Sacramento with his family, said, "I'd like to get my room cleaned every other day, but every day is... I can go without."
His wife, Christina, added, "If hotels want to save money, they can choose to offer that every other day or every week... but it's a business. They have a right to choose."
The Culinary Union expressed full support for the bill, SB 360, introduced by Sen. Lori Rogich, stating it "fully supports the health and safety of guest room attendants in Nevada."
