Culinary Union not ruling out another strike during standstill with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Culinary Union is still in the bargaining phase with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas after months of talks.

The union had its latest meeting with the hotel leaders on July 11th, but didn’t get far.

The Secretary-Treasurer of the union, Ted Pappageorge tells FOX5 over 80% of culinary union workers signed a petition and delivered it to hotel leaders at that meeting.

Pappageorge says they want a similar deal to every other casino on the Las Vegas Strip and downtown Las Vegas. That means more money and protecting union benefits like health care and pensions.

Pappageorge says Virgin is the only holdout.

”The workers have authorized the union to call a strike at any time,” Pappageorge said. “They’re still stuck on zero wage increases for most of the contract and that’s a real problem. We have a standard here.”
