Celebrating Hattie Canty: A trailblazer in Las Vegas labor history

News 3 continues its celebration of 100 years of Black history by honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the community.

Today, the spotlight is on Hattie Canty, who became the first Black president of the Las Vegas Hotel and Culinary Workers Union in 1990.

She also co-founded the Culinary Training Academy of Las Vegas, which aims to reduce poverty and unemployment among local youth and displaced workers.

Canty's legacy is further honored as she is memorialized at the Historic Westside Legacy Park.
