As the clock struck 6 p.m. Thursday, dozens of Culinary Union members walked out of the giant crowd on Paradise Road’s sidewalk and into the street.
Minutes after forming a circle in the middle of the blocked-off road, two buses and a group of police officers arrived to arrest protesters one by one. There was no resistance, but union members continued chanting with their hands zip-tied around their backs.

“If we don’t get no contract, they don’t get no peace,” the circle chanted next to the resort, cheered on by the hundreds of Culinary members sounding off horns and banging drums.
