Workers at Sunset Station voted 83% to unionize!

Workers at Sunset Station voted to unionize Thursday, June 13, 2019! 83% voted UNION YES!
 
“I am so happy to be become part of the union!” said Athena Sarelio, a food server at Sunset. “I voted YES for the Culinary Union so I could have security for my family. I want to ensure that when I retire one day, I will be able to retire with dignity with a union pension. I can’t wait to negotiate a contract!”

We welcome 600 Sunset Station workers to the Culinary and Bartenders Unions!
 
“Once again, Station Casinos workers, this time at Sunset Station, have spoken loud and clear that they want a union, fair wages, and good benefits like at other union casinos in Las Vegas and that they want to be treated fairly on the job,” said Geoconda Argüello-Kline, Secretary-Treasurer and leader of the Culinary Union. “We call on Station Casinos to immediately negotiate and settle a fair contract for the workers at Sunset Station, Palms, Green Valley Ranch, Palace Station, and Boulder Station.”
 
Sunset Station will be joining Boulder Station, Palace Station, Green Valley Ranch, and Palms at the negotiating table. It’s time for a contract NOW!

¡Los trabajadores de Sunset Station votaron el 13 de junio del 2019 para sindicalizarse! ¡El 83% votó SÍ UNIÓN!

“¡Estoy tan contenta de formar parte de la unión!” dijo Athena Sarelio, que ha sido mesera en el Sunset. “Yo voté SÍ a la Unión Culinaria para poder tener seguridad para mi familia. Quiero asegurarme de que un día cuando me jubile, me pueda jubilar con dignidad y con una pensión sindical. ¡Estoy ansiosa de negociar un contrato!”

¡Les damos la bienvenida a 600 trabajadores de Sunset Station a la Unión Culinaria y la Unión de Cantineros!

“Una vez más, los trabajadores de Station Casinos, esta vez los de Sunset Station, han dicho fuerte y claramente que quieren un sindicato, sueldos justos, y buenos beneficios igual que en otros casinos sindicalizados en Las Vegas; y quieren ser tratados con justicia en el trabajo,” dijo Geoconda Argüello-Kline, Secretaria-Tesorera y líder de la Unión Culinaria. “Hacemos un llamado para que Station Casinos negocie de inmediato y llegue a un contrato justo para los trabajadores de Sunset Station, Palms, Green Valley Ranch, Palace Station, y Boulder Station.”
